Phuket Marathon

There will be a Phuket international marathon held in June every year. This is an exciting event as it allows you to jog through the villages and dirt tracks of phuket. It will be tougher than road marathons as the terrain is not flat and it will be challenging. However, this is another opportunity for one to prove his worth in marathon.
Unfortunately, I am unable to attend this year's marathon as I will be going for the South Africa World Cup.

I will still be training for the StanChart marathon but at the same time I aspire to go for the Phuket marathon in June 2011.

Heading for the gym

I applied for a gym membership at a club nearby. I have decided to start my exercise again once the application is approved. My colleague will be joining me too as he is also interested.
My gym will start soon and I intend to be in good shape when the next marathon preparation starts in the second half of the year. I will be stronger in my legs and also arms where the swinging is important during the jog.

First jog in 3 months

Finally, I got over the post marathon trauma after 3 months and decided to put on my jogging shoes again. It is true that once we stop running, it takes time to pick it up again. It is even more difficult if there is no goal in mind. At least last year, I was preparing for the marathon and had to train up.
The body will deteriorate if we do not maintain it. True enough, after my jog on Tues, my thighs are still aching two days after. I visited a shopping mall and intended to used stair lift installed there to ease my pain.

Wheelchair racing

I had the opportunity to witness a wheelchair marathon today and it was simply amazing as I observed the intensity of the race and the full blooded race by sports wheelchairs. Every racer looked as fit as an able bodied individual and I give them the utmost respect. After the race, I drove my friend who was a competitor home. He has a stairlift at home to move his wheelchair and himself up to the second floor as I watched him maintain his wheelchair. As this is the first time I have seen the stairlift in action, I asked him some questions about it. He seems to be well versed in stairlifts as he explained the operations and the various stairlift parts involved in making this machine works. I learnt alot about stairlift from him today, not only from his determination shown during the wheelchair race but also his in depth knowledge of the stair lift machine.
